Respect for Nature
We protect the trees, plants and wildlife that make this place special, and we keep the property green, quiet and natural.

About us
Our story
TARO Resort began with a simple idea: a place to stay where the garden comes first. Instead of clearing the land, we built around what was already here. The old trees still stand, their hanging roots now forming a canopy over our cabin decks. The bamboo still grows tall, and our chalets sit quietly among it.
Our name comes from the taro plant, whose broad green leaf you will see in our logo. It grows close to the earth and close to water, and it reminds us of what we want every guest to feel here: grounded, refreshed and at ease.

Our design
Every room at TARO sits under a steep A-frame roof of warm timber, with tall glass walls that let in the morning light and frame the green outside. Bathrooms open to the sky. Plunge pools are edged with lily ponds. Paths wind between plants rather than concrete.
The result is a stay that feels open, calm and close to the elements, without giving up any of the comforts you expect.

Our location
TARO Resort is in Katana, in the green countryside of Sri Lanka's Western Province. It is a short drive from Bandaranaike International Airport and the beaches of Negombo, which makes it an easy first or last stop on your journey, or a peaceful weekend escape from Colombo.

What we believe
We protect the trees, plants and wildlife that make this place special, and we keep the property green, quiet and natural.
Our team welcomes you the Sri Lankan way: warmly, personally and with real care for the details of your stay.
With only a handful of rooms, there are no crowds. Every guest has space, privacy and time to slow down.
